A family business trusted across Dorset since 1969

David Fennings has been helping people transform their homes since 1969. What began as a local conservatory business has grown into a trusted name across the South for glazed extensions, warm tiled roofs, windows and doors — and we are still family-run, still working from the same showroom at Sunrise Business Park on the edge of Blandford Forum.

Bournemouth has been part of our patch from the very beginning, and our own team handles every stage of the job: the initial design and ideas, planning permission and baseworks, the full build, then the final touches like flooring, blinds and lighting. No sub-contracted crews, no hard sales, no gimmicks — just honest work and the same care whether it is a full orangery or a single new door.

If you would like to see the standard of finish before you commit, you are very welcome to visit us. There are several full conservatories on display with tiled floors, furniture, blinds and lighting, alongside an extensive range of aluminium, hardwood and uPVC systems. We are easy to find just off the A350, with ample parking.

We cover Bournemouth

Our installation teams are in Bournemouth every week — from the clifftop roads of Southbourne and the leafy avenues of Talbot Woods to Winton, Charminster, Queen’s Park, Westbourne and everywhere in between.

Based just up the A350 at Sunrise Business Park in Blandford Forum, we are usually with you within about 40 minutes for site visits, measured surveys and aftercare — and we are happy to advise on the details that matter locally, from salt-resistant frames and coastal weather-proofing near the seafront to designs that sit comfortably alongside the town’s older architecture.

Why a conservatory adds value to a Bournemouth home

Neighbourhood

Southbourne

Clifftop roads, a beach-hut lined promenade and some of the best sea views in town. Homes here take the full force of the salt air — so we specify frames, glazing and hardware that are made for the coast.

Neighbourhood

Talbot Woods

Wide, tree-lined avenues and generous plots — ideal for larger orangery-style extensions that make the most of mature gardens.

Parks & Gardens

Lower, Central & Upper Gardens

Two miles of Victorian gardens running from the pier up through the town — a reminder of how much Bournemouth life is lived outdoors when the weather allows, and indoors-with-a-view when it doesn't.

Parks & Gardens

Meyrick Park

Golf, cricket and woodland walks just minutes from the town centre, bordered by some of Bournemouth's most characterful early-1900s homes.

Landmark

Bournemouth Pier & Seafront

Seven miles of award-winning beaches stretching from Hengistbury Head to Sandbanks — the reason so many of our customers want a room where they can enjoy the coastal light all year.

Landmark

Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum

A remarkable Victorian villa on the East Cliff — proof of Bournemouth's long love affair with ambitious glass, ironwork and seaside architecture.

Whether you’re watching the sun go down over the bay from Southbourne or coming home from a stroll through the Gardens, a well-designed conservatory lets you enjoy Bournemouth’s famous light — and its views — in comfort, all year round. We’ll help you choose a design that suits your home, your street and the coastal climate.

Just love it, thanks so much David Fennings

Our aluminium framed conservatory has now been up for 20 years and continues to give us as much pleasure as the day it was finished. We live in it for 90% of the year enjoying its warmth and sunshine during winter plus glorious outdoor style in summer. Just love it. Thanks so much David Fennings. A proper job that brings the Med lifestyle to Dorset.

We highly recommend them

This summer, we also have had fantastic service from David Fennings Conservatories – we highly recommend them. They were most responsive to our particular needs and we cannot fault the standard of workmanship. The quality of our conservatory is great and even in the cold weather we are using it as an everyday addition to our house.

★★★★★

Highly professional, knowledgeable and genuine

David is a highly professional, knowledgeable and genuine gentleman that does not “hard-sell”. David and his team use only the best materials for the job at hand and are very experienced at what they do. Our current large conservatory was installed originally by David and his team 24 years ago and still stands strong. I can highly recommend David Fennings Conservatories.

Correspondence was great

David did my aluminium double glazed bi-folding doors at my house. The service from start to finish was superb. Correspondence was great. And the product is the best as my house backs on to the fleet at Weymouth where we get big south westerly winds carrying all the salt spray. They have been installed for 10 years now and operate and look new.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for a conservatory in Bournemouth?

Most conservatories in Bournemouth fall under permitted development rights, so planning permission usually isn’t required. The rules are different for flats, listed buildings and some conservation areas, and there are limits on size and position. We check this for you as part of every quotation, and if an application to BCP Council is needed we handle the whole process on your behalf.

How long does a conservatory take to install?

Once the base is prepared, most installations take one to two weeks on site. From the first survey to completion, a typical project runs six to ten weeks depending on the design, the groundworks and whether any approvals are needed. We agree a clear timetable with you before any work starts.

Will my conservatory be warm enough to use in winter?

Yes. Modern energy-efficient glazing, insulated bases and options such as warm tiled roofs mean the conservatories we build are genuine year-round rooms — warm in January, comfortable in July. Many of our Bournemouth customers use theirs as an everyday dining room or living space.

Does living near the sea affect which conservatory I should choose?

It’s worth thinking about. Salt air is tougher on materials, so for homes near the seafront — Southbourne, Boscombe, the East and West Cliffs — we recommend aluminium or high-grade uPVC frames, corrosion-resistant hardware and self-cleaning glass. We’ve been building on the Dorset coast for over 40 years, so we specify accordingly as standard.

Can you replace the roof on my existing conservatory?

Yes. Our warm tiled roof service replaces an ageing polycarbonate or glass roof with a fully insulated, tiled roof — transforming an older conservatory into a room you can use all year round, usually within a week and without replacing the rest of the structure.
