Edwardian Conservatories

With their clean lines and symmetrical design, Edwardian conservatories provide excellent usable floor space. Their straightforward layout makes them a versatile option for a wide range of homes.

Modern Glass Extensions

For a more contemporary appearance, a modern glazed extension can create a strong connection between your home and garden. Generous areas of glazing allow natural light to become a key feature of the space.

Orangeries

An orangery provides a more substantial architectural feel while retaining the benefits of generous glazing. It can work particularly well as a dining area, family room, lounge or entertaining space.

Warm Tiled Roofs

If you want your conservatory to feel more like a natural continuation of your home, a warm roof can provide improved insulation and a more solid interior finish. A Family Business Trusted Across Salisbury Since 1969

David Fennings has been helping people transform their homes since 1969. What began as a local conservatory business in Dorset has grown into a trusted name across the wider region, including Salisbury, for glazed extensions, warm tiled roofs, windows and doors, and we are still family-run and still working from the same showroom at Sunrise Business Park on the edge of Blandford Forum.

Salisbury has been part of our wider Dorset and Wiltshire patch for years, and our own team handles every stage of the job: the initial design and ideas, planning permission and baseworks, the full build, then the final touches like flooring, blinds and lighting. There are no sub-contracted crews, no hard sales and no gimmicks, just honest work and the same care whether it is a full orangery or a single new door.

If you would like to see the standard of finish before you commit, you are very welcome to visit us. There are several full conservatories on display with tiled floors, furniture, blinds and lighting, alongside an extensive range of aluminium, hardwood and uPVC systems. We are just off the A350 in Blandford, with ample parking, and it’s a straightforward drive from Salisbury.

Conservatories in Salisbury and the Surrounding Area

Salisbury has a real mix of properties, from historic houses in and around the Cathedral Close to Victorian terraces and larger suburban homes further out towards Harnham and the surrounding villages. A conservatory that works has to suit the house it’s attached to, not just look good in a brochure.

We take the proportions, materials, roof design and glazing options of your specific home into account, rather than offering one design across the board. Properties near the Close or in a conservation area often need extra care to get the design and glazing right.

Wherever you are in Salisbury, get in touch and we’ll talk through what would actually work for your property.

Why a Conservatory Adds Value to a Salisbury Home

Neighbourhood

Harnham

A leafy, village-like suburb south of the city centre, bordered by the water meadows and the River Nadder. Constable painted this stretch of river more than once, and the area still keeps a strong sense of its own identity, with period homes on quieter streets.

Neighbourhood

The Cathedral Close

The largest cathedral close in Britain, lined with historic townhouses dating back centuries. Many properties here sit within a conservation area, so any new conservatory or extension needs a design that respects the setting.

Parks & Gardens

Queen Elizabeth Gardens

A riverside park on the River Avon close to the city centre, with views of the cathedral and a footbridge onto the Town Path, the walk that leads out through the water meadows to Harnham.

Parks & Gardens

The Water Meadows & Town Path

The stretch of meadows between the city and Harnham, famous as the view in John Constable's paintings of Salisbury Cathedral. The view from here has barely changed in two hundred years.

Landmark

Salisbury Cathedral

Home to the tallest church spire in the UK at 123 metres, the largest cathedral close in Britain, and the best-preserved of the four surviving original 1215 Magna Carta copies. A building that's shaped the whole city around it since the 13th century.

Landmark

Old Sarum

The site of the original settlement that became Salisbury, an Iron Age hillfort later built over with a Norman castle and cathedral, before the city moved down to the water meadows in the 1200s. Just outside the modern city, and where Salisbury's story really begins.

Whether you’re overlooking the water meadows from Harnham or closer to the Cathedral Close, a well-designed conservatory lets you enjoy Salisbury’s outlook in comfort all year round. We’ll help you choose a design that suits your home, your street and the local weather.

What our customers say

★★★★★

Correspondence was great

David did my aluminium double glazed bi-folding doors at my house. The service from start to finish was superb. Correspondence was great. And the product is the best as my house backs on to the fleet at Weymouth where we get big south westerly winds carrying all the salt spray. They have been installed for 10 years now and operate and look new.

Just love it, thanks so much David Fennings

Our aluminium framed conservatory has now been up for 20 years and continues to give us as much pleasure as the day it was finished. We live in it for 90% of the year enjoying its warmth and sunshine during winter plus glorious outdoor style in summer. Just love it. Thanks so much David Fennings. A proper job that brings the Med lifestyle to Dorset.
